In the aftermath of the earthquake.
Sent in the weeks after the catastrophic February 2023 earthquake in southern Turkey, 80 kilograms of hand-knit and crocheted items, delivered to a school in İzmir serving refugee and underprivileged children.

A community response, organized.
Volunteers gathered to sort incoming donations by category and size, racing to get warm items packed and shipped to families.

80 kilos, headed to İzmir.
Boxes stacked and labeled for transit. The shipment was routed to a school in İzmir hosting refugee and displaced children from the affected region.
Handed out, classroom by classroom.

Our first shipment to Turkey.
Hundreds of hand-knit and crocheted items, hats, socks, scarves, baby blankets, packed at home, driven to the cargo terminal, and flown to Istanbul through a partnership with Turkish Airlines. Every piece was tagged with the maker's name.

A trunk full of wishes.
Items came in from makers across the country. We sorted, vacuum-sealed, and labeled them by category, then loaded everything into one car for the drive to SFO cargo.

Wheels up with Turkish Airlines.
Turkish Airlines Cargo donated the freight on this run. The pallet was wrapped, palletized, and put on a direct flight to Istanbul, then on to partner aid centers on the ground.
Samples from the hundreds inside.
